Who says hiking gear has to be boring and stiff? For those of you who want to look slay in your summit photos, you need to master the layering system. Here is an OOTD guide that is not only aesthetically cool but also 100% safe for extreme temperatures up there.
1. Base Layer
This is the layer that directly touches your skin. NEVER WEAR COTTON! Cotton absorbs sweat but takes a long time to dry, which can lead to hypothermia. Use Dry-Fit or Polyester materials. Choose earth tones (brown, olive green, or beige) to blend in with nature.
2. Mid Layer (Insulation)
For the second layer, you need warmth. A fleece or polar jacket is the best choice. You can opt for a fleece sweater with tribal patterns or bold solid colors to look great on camera.
3. Outer Layer (Protection)
This is the outermost jacket designed to block wind (windbreaker) and water (waterproof). Choose a modern design with contrasting colors like Mustard Yellow, Brick Red, or Electric Blue so you pop out against the grey/green landscape in photos.
Pants: Say Goodbye to Jeans!
Hiking in jeans is a fatal mistake. Jeans are stiff, heavy, and if they get wet, they will make you freeze. Wear stretchy trekking cargo pants or thick sports leggings for women. Both allow for free movement and look super stylish when paired with proper hiking boots.
